Florals for Spring

I will be the first one to admit - I am not a big fan of floral prints.  Usually I have a tendency to associate super flowery patterns with my grandma, ugly curtains, or just vintage style - which really just isn't my thing.  Most people are surprised by this due to my girly fashion sense but I just never jumped on the idea of being covered in a flowered pattern.  This season, though, things are changing. Patterns are emerging everywhere and in all kinds: subtle patterns, bold flowers with bright colors, as well as just the classics.  Floral is going to be huge this spring and I am completely crushing on it!

Christmas Decorations for a Small Room

It's finally December! Hot coco, cold weather, and sweaters, oh my! The first week of the month I always begin to decorate for Christmas!  There's just something about having a room decorated that makes everything more homey and helps me get into the holiday spirit.  Since I am living in my sorority house on campus, my room is still tiny but it just makes it feel cozy!

2015 Recap

Even though we are days into 2016, 2015 was a big year for me.  I graduated high school, completed my first semester in college, rushed a sorority, and many other things.  I thought it'd be fun to do a recap of most of the things I did this year, looking back.  I am so incredibly blessed with all of the opportunities I have been given and the amazing people who support and surround me in my life.

First Week of College

It's crazy to think that I am already done with my first week of college.  I moved in to James Madison University last Tuesday and it's been great.  I am absolutely in love with JMU!  Even though classes start today, I've already learned so much and met so many new people.  I live in a suite with four other girls and I have to say, I am so lucky - they are all so sweet.

After weeks of dorm shopping and planning, I finally got my dorm to come together!  To my surprise it's a cozy room but has plenty of storage.  I love my new home.

Changes

It's weird to think about how quickly things can change.  Nothing in life is permanent, which can be a good and bad thing.  One second everything could be amazing, better than you ever could imagine, and the next it could all be gone. Change is essential but sometimes I wish everything would just stay in place.
Saying goodbye to friends before college is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.  It’s so strange not being around the same people and just continuing our normal summer adventures.  That’s the one thing no one warns you about when it comes to college… the goodbyes.  All students talk about is how great college is but they always fail to mention what comes before the actual move in.  I don't want to think about how awful it will be to say goodbye to my family.  I’ve always seen the Instagram posts and twitter shoutouts, but never understood how hard it really is when everyone goes their separate ways.  It’s like life has stood still for 12 years and now is drastically different.  You look back and ask where all the time has gone.
My advice to any rising senior in high school is the same as probably every other kid my age: cherish the time in school now because it goes by so quickly.  Senior year is a tough one but definitely the best out of all of them.  Keep in mind the idea that nothing is permanent but use it to your advantage… take in every amazing minute but also don’t dwell on the bad ones.  Nothing lasts forever.

Bonjour Paris!

My three days in Paris were definitely not enough!  Everything about France was absolutely gorgeous.  Where do I even begin?!

The first place we stopped was the Eiffel Tower.  I am deathly afraid of heights so it was wonderful from the outside, but up in the tower was a little too much (haha).  I'm glad I did decide to go up, though, because the view was worth getting over my fear for a little!

That night we went to Cafe de la Paix for dinner and the amount of food served was ridiculous!  The tour provided a drink and three-course meal for each person.  I chose white wine, French Onion Soup, Lobster dinner, and some sort of macaroon dish for dessert.  It was divine!

The next day our first destination was Versailles! Oh la la (as I was told the French frequently say)!  It was incredible.  Marie-Anoinette has always been my favorite queen so it was very cool to see where she lived and the palace she ruled over.  The castle and famous gardens couldn't possibly be fully captured with my camera!!

Later that day, we headed to Sacre-Coeur (Sacred Hearts Church).  It was gorgeous.  Pictures were not permitted inside the church so sadly I only have one to share from the outside.  Along with seeing the church, there is a shopping place on the hill that was so cute - tons of artists, painters, performers, and little shops.

The next day we were off to the Louvre!  The museum was huge!!  Although I hate to admit it, I hate museums... I love history but there's just something about a museum that makes me want to stab myself.  Luckily, my aunt seemed to feel the same way.  So, needless to say, we had a little fun in the museum when maybe we should've been paying more attention...

(Actually gorgeous ceiling!)

On the last day my parents and I explored the city.  My favorite spot was Laudree to check out their famous macaroons.  I've always been obsessed with Gossip Girl so it was also cool to go to Blair Waldorf's favorite spot in Paris and eat her favorite food.  :)

(P.S. Just for fun - Here's a scene from Gossip Girl that shows and talks about a lot of the popular sights in Pairs! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7l19FrZTiE )
